Episode 01: The Pilot
As American celebrates the bicentennial, Susan and Bruce Miller move their family to an affluent Chicago suburb. They are not only welcomed to the chick neighborhood, but also the social and sexual revolution prevailing throughout the decade. They find out that their neighbors share more than a view of Lake Michigan. Initially bewildered by their new surroundings, Susan and Bruce come to realize that their promiscuous neighbors present a tantalizing offer that may provide the excitement their marriage craves.
Episode 02: Love Will Find a Way
Susan, Tom, and Trina make a surprise visit to the Chicago Playboy Club, where Bruce is celebrating with co-workers after his monumental day on the trading floor. The two couples continue to explore their newfound friendship. In the old neighborhood, where the Millers used to live, Janet realizes how important her friendship with Susan is when a new couple moves in next door.
Episode 03: Double Exposure
Susan and Bruce throw a housewarming party, where they invite new and old neighbors. This eclectic mix of guests includes the conservative Thompsons and the lively Deckers, causing some awkward interactions. Susan asks Janet for help planning the party, in an attempt to repair their damaged friendship. The party began with a major shake up with Trina padding the guest list and creating a new twist on fondue dipping.
Episode 04: Cabin Fever
Susan invites the Deckers to their annual cabin trip after the Thompsons decline to go. Just when the weekend inside the two-bedroom cabin gets cozy, the foursome is surprised with a last-minute appearance by Janet and Roger, causing some awkward moments. Back at the house and without adult supervision, Laurie decides to bring Mr. Stephens over.
Episode 05: Go Your Own Way
Against Bruce’s wishes, Susan attends a free speech fundraiser in connection with the film, « Deep Throat. » Defying Bruce, Susan attends the fundraiser at the Decker’s home to benefit the legal defense of the star of the controversial film.
Episode 06: Friends With Benefits
Tom and Trina open up their relationship when Trina’s first love, Luke, comes to town to visit. Susan questions her involvement with the Ladies Auxiliary even though it benefits Bruce’s career but conflicts with her newfound identity. Roger hides the news from Janet that he has lost his job.
Episode 07: Heatwave
Tom cheats on Trina. Roger, unable to tell Janet he lost his job, pretends to go to work but instead spends the day with Susan. When Janet discovers a check has bounced, she goes to Roger’s workplace only to discover that her husband’s been fired. Bruce is propositioned by his colleague, Melinda.
Episode 08: Puzzlerama
The participants at the Decker’s annual treasure hunt get more than they bargained for when certain secrets are revealed about themselves and their neighbors during the course of the game. Tom witnesses Bruce kissing Melinda, Roger and Susan grown closer and Janet discovers that Susan knew about Roger’s firing before she did.
Episode 09: Swingus Interruptus
Bruce’s and Susan’s awkward attempt to swing with Brad and Sylvia goes awry when they discover Laurie and her teacher, Mr. Stephens in a compromising position. Tom and Trina decide to be exclusive to one another. In an effort to convince Janet that she’s a desirable woman, Tom kisses her.
Episode 10: Running on Empty
Bruce and Susan go to the cabin to reconnect with each other and their children, but their weekend ends with Laurie running away and Susan realizing that she has feelings for Roger. Janet and Roger see a therapist and Tom and Trina resume swinging.
Episode 11: Get Down Tonight
Even though Bruce and Susan swing again with Tom and Trina, they continue to grow distant with each other. Janet’s and Roger’s roles are reversed when she goes to work and Roger tends the home. Bruce teaches Laurie to drive. Roger kisses Susan.
Episode 12: Surprise!
Roger reveals his love for Susan and tells her that he won’t take the new job in Cincinnati. In an effort to save her marriage and fight her burgeoning feelings for Roger, she tells him goodbye. Unable to resist his feelings for her, Bruce goes to Melinda. Janet excels at her new job and tries out for the position of advice columnist. Trina discovers she’s pregnant.
Episode 13: Take It To The Limit
Trina tells Tom she’s pregnant. Susan confronts Melinda who tells her that nothing happened between her and Bruce. Janet tells Roger that she doesn’t want to move to Cincinnati because she got the advice columnist job at the paper. Roger asks Susan to meet him at his hotel room and she does.
